Así es como se siente estar en La Tigra, pero con electricidad, una cabina súmamente cómoda con camas que te sentís como un ´Teletubbie en velcro´ y no te podés despegar. Es de los mejores respiros para el alma. Además, estás dentro de la jungla.

That’s how it feels to be at La Tigra, but, with electricity, a small and comfortable cabin with makes you feel like a Teletubbie on a velcro bed, and doesn’t let you get out. It’s one of the most energetic and refreshing places to charge the soul. Also, you actually are INSIDE the forest.

La Tigra fue para mi uno de los lugares más relajantes a los que he ido. Está a 45 minutos de La Fortuna, y en uno de sus cerros se encuentra La Tigra Rainforest Lodge, con un río que atraviesa la propiedad y posas en el mismo, rodeado por varios senderos. El hotel está en el proceso de convertirse en un sitio totalmente sostenible, contando con reutilización de aguas, plantando árboles, teniendo su propia huerta y demás.

This has been one of the most relaxing places I have been to. It’s 45 minutes from La Fortuna by car, and through a bit rough road up one of it’s hills, you get to La Tigra Rainforest Lodge, with a river that crosses it’s property and even has ponds along it’s route, surrounded by beautiful trails. The hotel is in the process of becoming totally sustainable, with the reuse of water, plantation of trees, it’s own harvest of products and more.

El clima es húmedo y llueve mucho, pero estando en esa tranquilidad de lugar, realmente no te importa estar escuchando la lluvia. Esta es la mejor época para ir porque el invierno dejó los rios llenos y está soleado.

Las habitaciones pueden ser para parejas o amigos que les guste disfrutar del verde de la montaña y estar rodeado de eso. Ahí mismo se les da los tiempos de comida y café. Cabe destacar que el chef es INCREÍBLE y la comida realmente sabrosa. No hay platillo que no se disfrute de principio a fin. Además podés aprender a hacer empanadas con él.

The weather is humid and it rains a lot, but being in such a relaxing place, it doesn’t really matter if you listen to the rain all day. Actually, this is the best time to go because the rainy season has left the rivers full and it´s mostly sunny outside.

The cabins can be rented for couples or for friends that like to be surrounded by the deep green of the forest and like to hike. The breakfast is included at the restaurant, but I suggest you eat here through the day because everything is a bit far away. I must say, the chef is AMAZING and all the plates are delicious, there is no plate that doesn’t leave you with a smile from side to side. You can even learn how to do ’empanadas’ with him!

En ese proceso de convertirse en un hotel completamente sostenible, uno de los servicios que brinda es el de plantar un árbol en uno de los lotes adyacentes. Pero no se queda ahí. Podés también ver el progreso de cómo ese árbol va creciendo vía satélite y estar monitoreándolo desde el aire.

In this process of becoming a completely sustainable hotel, one of the many services that the hotel provides is to plan a tree in one of it’s adjacent terrains. It doens’t stop there though, you can actually track via GPS and satellite how your tree is growing. 

Tenemos que tener en cuenta que estamos en un mundo que poco a poco hemos ido deteriorando y es nuestro deber como seres humanos que afectamos el medio ambiente directa o indirectamente, cuidar de nuestro hogar. Este bello lugar se quedó con mi respeto y admiración desde el servicio hasta el sentimiento acogedor de estar rodeado de tanto verde en mi bello país.

We do have to have in mind that we are in a world that is slowly deteriorating, and it is our duty with our personal businesses that affect the environment directly or indirectly, to fight against that. We have a responsibility with our own home. This beautiful place has kept my admiration and respect from it’s service to the warm feeling of being surrounded by green in this stunning country.
